Beginning therapy is a brave step.
This may be your first time in therapy. Or, you may have pursued counseling in the past - but didn't have the best experience. In either case, I'm aware that taking this step can come with some nervousness or uncertainty.
The counseling space is a connective experience. So, allow me to introduce myself: my journey towards being a therapist, and who I am as a person.
Meet Your Therapist
I grew up in the River Valley. I have always loved stories. I wish I could say I am well versed in Shakespeare and Dickens. In truth, I have read the Shakespeare works most high school students have highlighted, and I was the ghost of Christmas Past in my middle school's production. Sure, I love reading, but my passion for stories, is hearing your story. I have always been fascinated by the complexity of what is possible, feelings associated, and the resilience of human beings finding their way.
Upon completing my undergraduate and graduate education, I opened a private practice in Van Buren and owned and operated it for 11 years. As the business flourished, growing exponentially, I found myself desiring to focus more on counseling itself rather than the administration of a larger organization. In 2024, I left to start a smaller scale office so that I could spend more time in sessions, providing direct care to clients.
As a clinician, I can confidently say that I care deeply for people and hold true hope that any situation can improve drastically with the right strategy and determination. At the same time, I come ready to work and am not afraid to walk with you on difficult topics. It is too rewarding to see change happen, so I will not waste your time. Change will be promoted. We will work hard, challenge, and address what is needed in a safe and loving environment. If you choose to try counseling for the first time, or simply return, I would be honored to hear your story and walk alongside you.
